Measurement of visual acuity in term infants (left). VEP acuities of breastfed and supplemented-formula-fed infants were better than those of control-formula fed infants at both 16 and 30 weeks of age (Makrides et al., 1995). The data from this study provided the first clue that infant formulas of that period were deficient in omega-3.
