Abstract
Metabolomic approaches have the potential to contribute to understand how environmental stressors (in broad sens) can affect both human and environmental health. Metabolomic approches are well documented in human health in general but his powerful in environmental studies are poorly explored. Through four examples, this short review shows real applications of this approach either on animal or plant kingdom. Strenghts and weaknesses, concerning particularly the sampling of organisms, the treatment of avalanche of data, the complexity of environmental parameters will be discussed.
Key words: environmental metabolomics / untargeted metabolomics / contaminants / sampling / phenotypes / genetic
